Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations at Aboabo FWB Church, Philippines

By Kristine Mae Ustares, Church Member

On December 22, 2024, our church congregation came together to offer thanksgiving to God for the blessings of the year. With hearts full of love, support, and unity, we embraced the December theme, “Come, Let Us Rejoice.” The event began with a hymn led by Sister Grace M. Vega, followed by a warm welcome and expression of gratitude from Brother Ernesto Punla. Together, we sang the heartfelt song, “Oh, I Love You with the Love of the Lord.”

Brother Herminio N. Bustamante then shared a scripture reading from Psalms 95:1-2:
“Come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.”

All glory and praise belong to God, who gave His life for our salvation. It was a beautiful moment to express our deepest gratitude to Him.

Sister Jane Margeret D. Sano shared a powerful testimony about the “Power of Giving.” Her words reminded us that thanksgiving to God extends beyond financial offerings—it encompasses our commitments to ministry, time, effort, and all aspects of our lives. Her testimony inspired everyone to give wholeheartedly for God’s glory. This was followed by the offering of tithes, which was blessed through prayer by Sister Ivy Marie K. Jorquia.

The children’s and Women’s Ministry added to the celebration with special presentations. Reverend Freedom G. Amenin delivered an inspiring message, highlighting four key elements of thanksgiving:

  1. Remembering what God has done.
  2. Telling others about Him.
  3. Sharing God’s glory with others.
  4. Offering gifts of self, time, and resources.

He left us with a profound question: “How can you not be grateful?” We cherished the time spent together, the love for the ministry, and the joy of being in God’s presence. To Him be all the glory!

The Afternoon Celebration

The spirit of joy and gratitude continued in the afternoon. Praise and worship were led by Sister Annabelle M. Punla, followed by a hymn led by Sister Janet D. Sano and inspiring presentations by the children, youth, and women.

Reflecting on John 3:16, we were reminded:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The life of Jesus is a celebration of being chosen, forgiven, cared for, and loved beyond measure. Brother Ernesto Punla encouraged us to deeply root our lives in God’s love, to live with purpose, and to remember the Savior who came to bring fulfillment, joy, and meaning to our lives.

With unwavering gratitude, we praised God for His blessings, for sustaining us, and for being our Savior. This was followed by a birthday offering, blessed by Sister Jorquia, and the joyful exchange of gifts, reflecting the spirit of giving.

To end the day, we savored moments of love, laughter, and joy through parlor games facilitated by Sister Ruth Shaina M. Malaque. As we approach the close of 2024, our hearts are filled with gratitude, joy, and the abundant grace of God.

Let us continue to adore His name, “Jesus!” To Him be all the praise and glory!
